York Ebor Festival Day One predictions: Utmost Respect for Fahey contender

York Ebor Festival Day One: Best bet, each-way selection and treble
Recommended bets include:
Kendall Roy each-way in the Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pool Handicap Nursery
The Ebor Festival is York's main event in the season and one of Britain's most treasured summer occasions on the Flat.
The action gets underway on Wednesday with a mouthwatering Juddmonte International Stakes as the main attraction.
Here is everything you need to know for day one, including the day's best bets.
Day 3 – Key info
First race: 1:50pm Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pool Handicap (Heritage Handicap)
Feature race: 3:35pm Juddmonte International Stakes (Group 1)
The action begins at York's Ebor Festival on Wednesday afternoon with a seven-race card headlined by the Juddmonte International Stakes, the Group 1 over a mile-and-a-quarter.
Best bet of the day
Utmost Respect to win the Nursery (5.20pm) at 6/1
Trainer Richard Fahey likes to target this contest and has landed it three times in the last decade. He goes with Utmost Respect this time around. The Invincible Spirit colt made short work of a Hamilton maiden last month having previously run with credit in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot on just his second start.
His debut saw him taking a silver medal from a valuable novice heat over 5f at this course at the Dante Festival in May and an opening mark of 87 could underestimate his ability with in-form Oisin Orr in the saddle.
Best each-way bet of the day
Back Kendall Roy each-way in the Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pool Handicap (1.50pm) at 18/1
Irish raider Kendall Roy is a compelling contender for trainer Katie McGivern in this opening sprint handicap over the extended five furlongs.
The Twilight Son gelding won four times in 2024, all over the minimum trip. Two of those wins came on UK soil at Windsor and Thirsk, before he landed decent handicaps at the Curragh in June and July.
His most recent success came off a mark of 90. He has two recent runs at Cork and the Curragh under his belt after 313 days off the track and should now be hitting top gear. He is back on his winning mark and the booking of Colin Keane looks a real positive.
Day 1 acca
We are providing an accumulator suggestion for each day at York's Ebor Festival and our day one treble pays 205/1 with LiveScore Bet.
Bet 1: Italy to win the Acomb Stakes (2.25pm) at 7/4
It could be a major opening afternoon for Aidan O'Brien and the Ballydoyle handler is fancied to win the Acomb Stakes for the second year in a row. Italy ran well in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket, perhaps a touch unlucky, and can get back on the up now.
Bet 2: Stay True to win the Great Voltigeur Stakes (3.00pm) at 13/2
The Ballydoyle team have dual Derby hero Lambourn as odds-on favourite here but there is room for doubt after his win at the Curragh. Stablemate Stay True looked unlucky in Lingfield's Derby Trial in May, just his second start, and this Galileo colt has room for any amount of progress.
Bet 3: Daryz to win the Juddmonte International Stakes (3.35pm) at 9/1
Unbeaten French ace Daryz continues to thrive for Francis Graffard and while the presence of last month's Eclipse one-two Delacroix and Ombudsman casts a long shadow on the market, this fast-improving Sea The Stars colt should not be taken lightly with this race targeted from some way out.
