Good
The opening race of the day – it’s the Schweppes Handicap over at Ascot, and it’s Addison Grey (6/1) from Clive Cox’s stable that I’ve taken a liking to.
The 4-year-old grey gelding is a striking-looking racehorse and one that I think has the goods to deliver over 7f this Saturday. He finished first last time out at Newbury over the same distance, and I’ve faith he can deliver the same result once more.
Callum Shepherd will be taking the reins at Newbury – it’s well worth an Each Way (EW) bet if you fancy his chances.

Good
Next up, we’re sticking at Ascot and turning our focus to the tote.co.uk Money Back 2nd Handicap.
William Haggas’ Ancestor (6/1) is the runner that’s caught my eye in this one – a 3-year-old Bay Gelding with just three races under his belt. Of those, he’s won the last two (both over 1m2f), beating fields of 6 and 3.
Ancestor will be looking to take on Owen Burrows’ Heyzoom (11/8) and Marco Botti’s Archers Bay (11/2). He’s a young and inexperienced racehorse, but there’s no question that there’s plenty of talent waiting to be unlocked. He’s potentially underpriced and well worth an EW bet.

H2: 14:50 – William Hill September Stakes (Kempton (AW)) – Constitution Hill
1m 3f 219y – Flat Polytrack, Group 3, Class 1
Runners: 7 (MAX 14)
Standard To Slow
One of the highest-rated hurdlers ever, Constitution Hill (11/2) is a thoroughbred racehorse that really needs no introduction.
Nicky Henderson’s wonderhorse, now 9 years of age, moved to compete in Flat Racing in February of this year. He’s won his first two outings over 1m4f at Kempton (AW) and Southwell (AW) and will be hoping to complete the trio at Kempton (AW) this Saturday.
The field is made up of a much younger crowd with an arsenal of 4-year-olds, with the exception of the 10-year-old Dubai Future (35/1). Constitution Hill, therefore, is not the favourite – but you’d be mad to bet against one of the most famous racehorses of all time, even if he is getting a little long in the tooth.

H2: 15:05 – Betfair Exchange Old Borough Cup Handicap (Haydock) – Finalise
1m6f – Flat Turf, Handicap, Class 2
Runners: 11 (MAX 17)
Heavy
It’s the Betfair Exchange Old Borough Cup Handicap at Haydock next, and we’re looking at 11 runners entered in the 1m6f Flat Turf, Handicap.
William Haggas has another good-looking entry in this one with Finalise (7/2), a 4-year-old Chestnut Filly. Her form has been good over the last 12 months or so, placing in the top three with a last win over at Kempton (AW) in August 2025.
Jockey Tom Marquand will be hoping to beat William Buick on the back of Charlie Appleby’s Aegean Prince (9/4) and Wark Winn riding David O'Meara’s Stressfree (7/1). For me, it’s well worth an EW wager.

H2: 15:40 – Betfair Sprint Cup Stakes (Haydock) – Almeraq
6f – Flat Turf, Group 1, Class 1
Runners: 8 (MAX 17)
Heavy
It’s hard to look past the favourite in the Betfair Sprint Cup Stakes, a 6f Flat Turf, Group 1, Class 1 event with 8 runners currently entered.
William Haggas’ Almeraq (5/2) is running in stunning form over 6f, despite a ninth-place finish last time out at Newmarket. He’s the highest-rated horse in the event and the one with the best recent record.
Tom Marquand will be piloting the racehorse – he’ll be hoping to keep the likes of Kind Of Blue, Mavelman, Coppull and Paborus in his rearview mirror. Well worth an EW bet – or even a simple win market if you’re feeling lucky.
