13:30 – William Hill Futurity Trophy Stakes (Doncaster) – Al Hudaiba
1m (Straight) – Flat Turf, Group 1, Class 1, 2yo
Runners: 7 (MAX 22)
Going: Soft
Our first race of the day – the William Hill Futurity Trophy Stakes over at Doncaster.
A P O'Brien has the early favourite in this one with Noble Exhibit (5/4), but I have my eye on Charlie Appleby’s Al Hudaiba (8/1).
A proven Group 1 winner at a mile, Al Hudaiba won the Summer Stakes at Woodbine on September 12 by 1¾ lengths, at the same distance as this Saturday's race. He’s also shown fantastic performances at Newmarket with two first-place finishes over 7f in June and July.
With an official rating of 112 and an RPR (Racing Post Rating) of 120, I think he’s underpriced at 8/1. Well worth an EW (Each Way) or even a win market bet.
Date | Distance | Venue | Position |
12 Sep 2026 | 1m | Woodbine | 1/8 |
28 Jul 2026 | 7f | Goodwood | 3/6 |
11 Jul 2026 | 7f | Newmarket (July) | 1/7 |
20 Jun 2026 | 7f | Newmarket (July) | 1/5 |
28 May 2026 | 7f | Yarmouth | UR/5 |

14:05 – William Hill Remembering Sue Wright Prospect Stakes (Doncaster) – Hi Corbett Court
6f – Flat Turf, Listed, Class 1, 2yo
Runners: 8 (MAX 22)
Going: Soft
Next, we’re sticking at Doncaster for the William Hill Remembering Sue Wright Prospect Stakes, a 6f Class 1 race with 8 runners.
A P O'Brien, once again, has the favourite in this one with Bengal Tiger (6/4) – but I much prefer the look of P Twomey’s Hi Corbett Court (5/2).
He’s had some good performances, most recently finishing second in the 18-runner Goffs Million at the Curragh in September, beaten by just half a length after making late headway. He also won a six-furlong nursery handicap at Sligo in August, so the distance is comfortable.
Date | Distance | Venue | Position |
26 Sep 2026 | 7f | Curragh | 2/18 |
5 Aug 2026 | 6f | Sligo | 1/12 |
24 Jul 2026 | 5f | Cork | 5/8 |
26 Jun 2026 | 6f | Curragh | 11/12 |
16 May 2026 | 6f | Navan | 3/10 |

14:20 – Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (Cheltenham) – Idaho Fire
3m – Hurdle Turf, Handicap, Class 2, 4yo+
Runners: 19 (MAX 20)
Going: Good
Over to Cheltenham now for the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle, and I'm backing Idaho Fire (9/1) in this one.
The Skelton Brothers will undoubtedly take the lion's share of bets, with Ace Of Spades (9/2) the early favourite.
I find Idaho Fire interesting at this weight and rating combination. The five-year-old has an official rating of 119, an RPR of 142, and will carry 10st1lb in this three-mile handicap. With two wins in the last two races, he’s in phenomenal shape, and I’m excited to see how he performs.

14:35 – BetVictor St Simon Stakes (Newbury) – Al Aasy
1m4f – Flat Turf, Group 3, Class 1, 3yo+
Runners: 9 (MAX 20)
Going: Soft
Newbury is next on the list – starting with the BetVictor St Simon Stakes, a 1m4f Flat Turf race with 9 runners.
Charlie Appleby has the number one contender in Aegean Prince (5/4), but William Haggas’ Al Aasy (8/1) looks like the best value to me. His latest form includes consecutive wins, including a Group 2 victory in the Grand Prix de Deauville over 1m4½f.
The main concern is his age and weight; at nine years old and carrying 9st 11lb, he needs to return to the track.
Date | Distance | Venue | Position |
3 Oct 2026 | 1m4f | Ascot | 1/5 |
30 Aug 2026 | 1m4½f | Deauville | 1/7 |
1 Aug 2026 | 1m4f | Goodwood | 3/8 |

15:10 – BetVictor Horris Hill Stakes (Newbury) – Nakila Sun
7f (Straight) – Flat Turf, Group 3, Class 1, 2yo
Runners: 9 (MAX 20)
Going: Soft
Our last race of the day – we’re sticking at Newbury for the BetVictor Horris Hill Stakes.
Andrew Balding’s Nakila Sun (11/2) is our selection here. He won the 7f British EBF Final at York on 9 October, beating 13 rivals on soft ground – a performance especially relevant to Saturday's conditions.
He is stepping up from a valuable Class 2 race into Group 3 company, so he will need to improve again, but he’s performing well over 7f and will make for a fantastic win or EW bet.
Date | Distance | Venue | Position |
9 Oct 2026 | 7f | York | 1/14 |
24 Aug 2026 | 1m | Windsor | 1/10 |
