Saturday Racing Tips Summary
Below are our expert picks for Saturday's Racing, including our top choice for each featured race.
Time | Race | Runner |
13:30 (York) | Sky Bet Rockingham Stakes | Cut A Dash |
14:25 (Newmarket) | Emirates Autumn Stakes | Rock Montreal |
15:00 (Newmarket) | Darley Dewhurst Stakes | Darkness Falls |
15:17 (York) | Sky Bet Sprint Trophy Handicap | Ardisia |
15:40 (Newmarket) | Club Godolphin Cesarewitch Handicap | Mountain Road |

13:30 – Sky Bet Rockingham Stakes (York) – Cut A Dash
6f – Flat Turf, Listed, Class 1 (2yo)
Runners: 11 (MAX 22)
Going: Good To Soft
Having won over five furlongs on his debut, Cut A Dash (4/1) returns to York for the six-furlong Rockingham Stakes and is our top pick for the opener.
His recent form has been a bit unpredictable, including a fifth-place finish at Newbury in September. This choice is more about trusting his earlier talent and his chance to make a comeback than focusing on recent consistency.
On 7/2, I'd recommend a win bet rather than an each-way, especially with Richard Hughes’ Agamemnon (10/3) occupying the early favourite spot.

14:25 – Emirates Autumn Stakes (Newmarket) – Rock Montreal
1m – Flat Turf, Group 3, Class 1 (2yo)
Runners: 7 (MAX 20)
Going: Good To Firm
Next, we head to Newmarket for the Emirates Autumn Stakes, and it’s hard to look anywhere else than Roger Varian’s Rock Montreal (13/8).
He’s holding position as the early favourite, ahead of A P O'Brien’s Sergei Diaghilev (11/4). But Rock Montreal is a risk, with just two career starts (a first-place finish at Yarmouth and a runner-up finish at Doncaster).
William Buick is due to ride him in the Autumn Stakes, and he’s dubbed a smart prospect and a major contender. I’d place a win bet over an EW wager on this one.

15:00 – Darley Dewhurst Stakes (Newmarket) – Darkness Falls
7f – Flat Turf, Group 1, Class 1 (2yo)
Runners: 5 (MAX 20)
Going: Good
The Darley Dewhurst Stakes is next on the card, with just 5 runners entered in this 7f, Flat Turf, Group 1, Class 1 event.
Once again, we’re not straying far from the mainstream here; I've chosen A P O’Brien’s Darkness Falls (15/8) as my pick. Despite being the early favourite, he’s not the horse with the highest Racing Post Rating (RPR) – that belongs to Charlie Appleby’s Desert Castle (7/2), who will be fierce competition.
I recommend a win bet since there are only five runners, making each-way options less attractive. But there’s some fantastic up-and-coming talent in this one – it’ll make for great viewing.

15:17 – Sky Bet Sprint Trophy Handicap (York) – Ardisia
6f – Flat Turf, Heritage Handicap, Class 2 (3yo+)
Runners: 22 (MAX 22)
Going: Good To Soft
Next up is the Sky Bet Sprint Trophy Handicap, with a packed field of 22 runners.
Michael Appleby has the early favourite in this one, Coul Angel (5/1), but Ardisia (25/1) is my favourite each-way bet, especially with good place terms. He’s a horse with strong performances on speed-favouring tracks, and his recent second at Goodwood over 6f shows he can be competitive at the distance.
The high price compensates for the unpredictability of a 22-runner handicap, but the EW insurance can help here. I’m very much looking forward to this one panning out.

15:40 – Club Godolphin Cesarewitch Handicap (Newmarket) – Mountain Road
2m 2f – Flat Turf, Heritage Handicap, Class 2 (3yo+)
Runners: 29 (MAX 32)
Going: Good
The day's final race: the Club Godolphin Cesarewitch Handicap at Newmarket. 29 runners are in the 2m 2f Flat Turf Heritage Handicap, and it’s shaping up to be a fantastic competition.
Ian Williams has the favourite in this one, Beylerbeyi (11/2), but I like the look of Jim Goldie’s Mountain Road (12/1). He’s in good form, has shown stamina, and finished in the top three in his last three starts. This race's strong pace should suit his patient racing style.
I'd favour each-way rather than win-only in the 29-runner handicap. Jockey Paul Mulrennan will have a difficult ride; it’s a matter of hoping the opportunity presents itself.
