Aidan O'Brien could be in line for Newmarket success on Friday

The summer fun continues at Newmarket on Friday with Day 2 of the July Festival and we have another seven races to look forward to across the afternoon.

The highlight of the day is the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes and Aidan O’Brien’s Irish 1000 Guineas and Coronation Cup heroine Precise takes on fellow Royal Ascot winner Blue Bolt in this year’s edition.

Here is everything you need to know for day two, including our expert’s best bet, each-way play of the day and three horses to consider combining into a treble.

Day 2 - Key info

First race: 13:50 Oddschecker Handicap Feature race: 15:35 Falmouth Stakes

There is Group 1 and Group 2 action on offer for fillies and mares, with the juveniles getting their chance to shine in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (14:25) and the three-year-olds taking on their elders in the Falmouth Stakes (15:35).

Do not forget about the handicaps either, as there are two £100,000 races on offer. The card gets under way with the 1m2f Handicap (13:50) and the stayers take centre stage later on the card at 15:00.

There could be some smart prospects in the field for the 6f British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes (16:10) and there is also the Debenhams Handicap (16:45), while the card concludes with the Jockey Club Estates Handicap (17:20).

Best bet of the day

Precise to win the Falmouth Stakes (16:20) @ 8/11

Aidan O’Brien has two Falmouth Stakes victories to his name so far, landing back-to-back renewals in 2016 & 2017 with Alice Springs and Roly Poly. The very talented PRECISE looks set to add to his tally and could be a class above.

She immediately showed potential as a two-year-old, winning back-to-back Group 1 races, before missing the Breeders’ Cup and she has taken another step forward at three. It is no surprise that she needed the run in the 1000 Guineas so it was easy to forgive that effort.

Stablemate True Love landed the Guineas but she had no answer to a race-fit Precise in the Irish equivalent later that month. The daughter of Starspangledbanner did well to win the Coronation Stakes as plenty went wrong during the race but her class shone through.

Clearly O’Brien’s charge is the leading three-year-old filly over this trip and the older generation does not look the strongest at the moment, so the 9lb allowance for three-year-olds means she needs to underperform badly to get beaten.

Best each-way bet of the day

Pole Star to win the 15:00 @ 20/1

Charlie Johnston runs the useful but sometimes inconsistent POLE STAR and the four-year-old has dropped to an attractive mark. He has struggled in his last couple of starts but the handicapper has responded accordingly and this is his ideal trip.

His third in a valuable handicap over this trip on the Rowley Mile in May was a good effort and the fact that he is now on a 3lb lower mark catches the eye.

Landing a good race at Haydock off a 1lb lower mark and another race at Yarmouth off 1lb higher, there is plenty of evidence to suggest he can outrun his odds.

Day 2 acca

Everybody loves an accumulator at the big meetings so we have provided three fancies to combine into a treble and Friday’s multiple is 17/1 with LiveScore Bet.

Bet 1: Back Decade Of Time to win the Handicap (13:50) @ 11/2

Handicap debutant Decade Of Time has won his last two starts well, the first came at the expense of Heraldry, and was hugely impressive under a penalty at Nottingham last time out. It is hard to argue with an opening mark of 92 and he looks fairly promising.

Bet 2: Back Libertango to win the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (14:25) @ 8/13

The form of Libertango’s debut success at Leicester has worked out well and she was delivered with an impressive late run to land the Albany at Royal Ascot last time out. That form has been boosted by the runner-up and this filly could be special.

Bet 3: Back Precise to win the Falmouth Stakes (15:35) @ 8/11

Precise is much too good for her fellow three-year-olds and she gets the opportunity to prove herself against her elders here. She may well have too much class for them.
