Irish Oaks Festival Day One: Best bet, each-way selection and treble
Recommended bets include:
The Curragh is the stage for the Irish Oaks Festival this weekend, with the final three-year-old Classic of the season coming up on Saturday afternoon as Minnie Hauk looks to follow up last month's Epsom success and give trainer Aidan O'Brien his eighth win in the Irish Oaks.
It's an eight-race card from the Curragh, including the Railway Stakes, Sapphire Stakes and the Curragh Cup on a quality afternoon at the Kildare venue.
Here is everything you need to know for day one, including the day's best bets.
Day 1 – Key info
First race: 13:30 Juddmonte Chaldean Irish European Breeders Fund
Feature race: 15:40 Juddmonte Irish Oaks (Fillies' Group 1)
Ireland's fourth and final three-year-old Classic takes place on Saturday afternoon as the Curragh stages the Juddmonte Irish Oaks on the first day of a superb weekend of racing at the country's home of Flat racing.
Best bet of the day
Arizona Blaze to win the Sapphire Stakes (15:05) @ 7/2
The Group 2 Barberstown Castle Sapphire Stakes is over the minimum 5f trip and sees UK raider Mgheera heading the betting for Ed Walker with Ryan Moore on board. She has won successive Group races at Longchamp and Haydock over this trip and is a player.
Preferred here though is Arizona Blaze for trainer Adrian Murray in the Amo Racing silks. The Sergei Prokofiev colt won a Group 3 in France over 5½f in April and comes here having been agonisingly denied in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot by Time For Sandals.
That is some exceptional form and this drop back in trip will not harm his chances back at a course where he has consistently run well.
Best each-way bet of the day
Gavoo each-way in the Lavazza Sprint Nursery Handicap (16:50) @ SP
Trainer David Marnane won this nursery a couple of years ago and could have a big contender now in Gavoo.
The Elzaam colt was second on debut over course and distance in May and followed up with a smooth win at Listowel under Luke McAteer.
The form of his debut has been boosted and he is not harshly judged having gone to Royal Ascot to tackle the Coventry Stakes since.
Sights are lowered now and an opening mark of 83 could be lenient, with three places to play for in this eight-runner field.
Day 1 acca
We'll be providing an accumulator suggestion for each day of Curragh's Irish Oaks Festival. On day one, our treble pays over 7/1 with LiveScore Bet.
Bet 1: True Love to win the GAIN Railway Stakes (2.35pm) @ 4/7
Aidan O'Brien's filly True Love takes on the colts in this Group 2 sprint and she could be well up to beating them. She won the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and her earlier second behind Gstaad at Navan also ready very well.
Bet 2: Arizona Blaze to win the Barberstown Castle Sapphire Stakes (3.05pm) @ 10/3
Last month's Commonwealth Cup runner-up Arizona Blaze runs well at this venue and should have few issues dropping in trip.
Bet 3: Minnie Hauk to win the Juddmonte Irish Oaks (3.40pm) @ 1/5
Minnie Hauk was very tenacious to see off Whirl in the Epsom Oaks last month. The pair were clear and the runner-up is a Group 1 winner since. She will be hard to beat now.
