Glorious Goodwood Day 5: Best bet, each-way selection and treble

Saturday’s highlight is the final day of Glorious Goodwood and we have another thoroughly intriguing and competitive card to look forward to, with seven races on the agenda.
The main event is undoubtedly the £250,000 Stewards’ Cup, for which a maximum field of 28 has been declared, and it is the purest test of speed over 6f in the country.
Here is everything you need to know ahead of the final day, as well as some strong fancies who could well be worth keeping an eye on.

First race: 13:50 Highclere Castle Gin Summer Handicap
Feature race: 15:35 Stewards’ Cup
Saturday does mark the conclusion of Glorious Goodwood, with seven races on the agenda, but there will be plenty more major meetings to look forward to before the season ends, with the Ebor Festival fast approaching.
The very competitive Highclere Castle Gin Summer Handicap (13:50) gets Saturday's action under way and there is £120,000 in total prize money on offer.
Next up is the Group 3 Glorious Stakes (14:25) and nine-year-old Al Aasy will be bidding to win this race for the third time in a row.
It is the Group 2 Lillie Langtry Stakes (15:00) after that and last year’s winner is amongst the field once again. Our feature race, the Stewards’ Cup (15:35) fills the headliner slot, with the Phase Eight Handicap over 7f next up.
The penultimate race on the card is an intriguing two-year-old maiden (16:45), in which Aidan O’Brien and Charlie Appleby are both represented. Glorious Goodwood concludes with the 1m1f Coral Rewards Shaker Handicap (17:20).

William Haggas has a terrific recent record in this race, winning four of the last six renewals, and two-time winner Al Aasy is amongst the field. His younger stablemate OPPORTUNITY is fancied to get the better of him, however, as the four-year-old is on the up.
Connections will be delighted that they managed to land a big race with him last time out and that success in the Duke Of Edinburgh was fairly comfortable in the end, with James McDonald on board. Winning such a competitive race off a mark of 100 is no mean feat.
His new mark suggests he is capable of performing at this level and further progress cannot be ruled out. James Doyle takes over the riding duties, though the result could be the same.

Northern Champion each-way in the Stewards’ Cup (15:35) @ 18/1 with LiveScore Bet
It is going to require a big performance from NORTHERN CHAMPION if the three-year-old is to land the Stewards’ Cup off a massive weight but he might well be up to the task, especially as apprentice jockey Ashley Lewis takes 5lb off his back.
Already a three-time winner this year, he won twice in Meydan over the winter and also landed a Listed race over 7f at Chester last time out. A low draw is often key in this race and there will be no complaints from stall nine, so another big run could be on the cards.
LiveScore Bet are offering six places for this race and it would be no surprise to see this horse make the frame, despite the weight he is carrying.

Everybody loves an accumulator, especially at the big meetings, so here are three horses with huge chances who combine to form a tantalising treble on Day 5, which pays more than 30/1 on LiveScore Bet.
Bet 1: Opportunity to win the Glorious Stakes (14:25) @ 5/2
William Haggas knows what is required to win this race and the progressive Opportunity looks more than ready for the step back up in grade, on the evidence of his last run.
Bet 2: Waardah to win the Lillie Langtry Stakes (15:00) @ 2/1
This race is shaping up to be a pretty competitive affair and the fact that Waardah has been there and done it before is key. Owen Burrows’ four-year-old won this very race last year and she finished behind Pretty Polly Stakes winner Estrange on seasonal debut last time out.
Bet 3: Al Wathba to win the EBF Maiden Stakes (16:45) @ 2/1
Charlie Appleby and Aidan O’Brien lock horns in this interesting maiden and it is the former’s runner who gets the nod. Al Wathba finished second to a useful Ballydoyle colt on debut at Newmarket last time out and will not need to find much in order to go one better.
