We are set for some more top-class racing action on the South Downs at Goodwood on Thursday, as it is Day 3 of the Glorious Festival.

Our expert has picked out some tips to follow, including a best bet of the day, which runs in the feature race, the Group 1 Nassau Stakes, which is open to fillies and mares aged three and upwards and has a dual French Classic winner heading the field.

Conditions are perfect for summer racing and the official going description is good to firm, good in places.

Day 3 - Key info

First race: 13:50 - Kincsem Heritage Handicap

Feature race: 15:35 - Nassau Stakes

There’s £120,000 on offer for our opening race and the 1m2f Kincsem Heritage Handicap (13:50) has attracted a competitive field of 14, many of which have good chances.

One of the best juvenile races of the week is next up and the Group 2 Richmond Stakes (14:25) will hopefully produce some promising two-year-olds to follow this season.

Then, seven runners go to post for the Gordon Stakes (15:00) and Joseph O’Brien has a runner.

The Nassau Stakes (15:35) has been won by some very smart horses over the years and it could go the way of Aidan O’Brien for the third consecutive year.

A 5f event, the Buccellati Handicap (16:10), is the next race on the card and it should be very competitive.

We’ve got the Whispering Angel Nursery Handicap (16:45), an eye-catching maiden (17:20) and the card closes out with another handicap, this time over a mile, at 17:55.

Best Bet Of The Day

Diamond Necklace to win the Nassau Stakes (15:35) @ 8/13 with LiveScore Bet

This race has been good to Aidan O’Brien in recent years and he is bidding to win it for the third year in a row.

Moments Of Joy is likely to be the pacemaker and hopefully she can set good fractions for the potential superstar Diamond Necklace.

She is unbeaten in five starts so far and three of those successes have come in Group 1 company. Entitled to continue on an upward trajectory, it’s unlikely that she has reached her full potential just yet.

The daughter of Wootton Bassett is a proven performer at this level. Her first Group 1 win was achieved at Longchamp last term, where she won the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac on Arc weekend.

O’Brien’s filly has since won the French Guineas and French Oaks double and that form suggests her rivals will struggle to get the better of her.

Best Each-way Bet Of The Day

Truly Glamorous each-way in the Buccellati Handicap (16:10) @ 14/1

Christopher Mason runs the progressive Truly Glamarous here and the three-year-old is well set to cope with the step up in class, as well as a 6lb rise in the weights.

Taking her form to a new level this term, she got off the mark in a low grade race at Windsor in June and three subsequent winners have come out of that race, providing a substantial boost to the form.

She had no trouble in defying a 5lb rise at Newbury last time out as well.

Obviously more will be needed at this sort of level but she can continue on an upward trajectory and is worth keeping on side until her limitations are exposed.

Day 3 acca

Everyone loves an accumulator so we have you covered on Day 3 of Glorious Goodwood with a juicy treble to consider backing and all three picks have cracking chances.

Bet 1: Back Flann Sunna to win the Richmond Stakes (14:25) @ 13/8

Simon & Ed Crisford run the unbeaten Flann Sunna and the colt was an impressive winner on debut at Windsor, where he beat a subsequent winner by three-and-a-half lengths.

He looks like a group horse in the making on the evidence of his recent win at Ascot and could prove hard to beat, especially if taking a step forward.

Bet 2: Back Enceladus to win the Gordon Stakes (15:00) @ 9/4

Joseph O’Brien just hasn’t missed so far this season and Enceladus can launch another successful raid in this race.

The colt did very well to a Royal Ascot handicap on just his fourth start last time out and he looks ready for the step up in grade, with further progress expected.

Bet 3: Back Diamond Necklace to win the Nassau Stakes (15:35) @ 8/13

Aidan O’Brien rates Diamond Necklace very highly and it is easy to see why.

She brings the highest level of form to the table here and is lightly raced enough to suggest there could be more to come, which is a scary thought for her rivals.
