Ebor Festival Day 4: Best bet, each-way selection and treble
Recommended bets include:
York have treated us to another excellent Ebor Festival this year and it comes to an end on Saturday, with another quality seven-race card, featuring the £500,000 Ebor Handicap.
It is going to be a thoroughly competitive affair, with so much prize money on offer, and there is also the Group 1 City Of York Stakes to look forward to.
Here is everything you need to know for Saturday’s final Ebor Festival card, as well as some strong fancies to consider backing at York.

Day 4 - Key info
First race: 13:50 Strensall Stakes
Feature race: 15:35 Ebor Handicap
The action gets under way with the Group 3 Strensall Stakes (13:50), which is run over the intermediate trip of 1m1f, and next up is the competitive Melrose Handicap (14:25).
Group 1 action follows, with the City Of York Stakes (15:00), and there are several interesting participants, including a former 2,000 Guineas winner and a Japanese raider.
Everyone will be after some of the massive prize pot in the Ebor (15:35) and the always dangerous Willie Mullins is set to be represented by two intriguing runners.
The Constantine Handicap (16:10) provides some decent prize money, with the Julia Graves Roses Stakes (16:45) and the Dav Reid Finale Handicap (17:20) closing out the meeting.
Best bet of the day
Notable Speech to win the City Of York Stakes (15:00) @ 7/2
Charlie Appleby has kept his powder dry for most of this meeting but NOTABLE SPEECH has a massive chance in the last Group 1 of the week. He managed to win the 2,000 Guineas on just the fourth start of his career, before going on to claim the Sussex Stakes.
The son of Dubawi was out of form for much of last season but did land the Breeders’ Cup Mile back in November.
You can ignore his run at Ascot, as the track clearly does not suit him, and the form of his Lockinge Stakes win makes him the one to beat.
Best each-way bet of the day
Bay Of Stars in the Melrose Handicap (14:25) @ 11/1
Dermot Weld has been one of Ireland’s finest trainers for a long time and he does not send horses over to Britain for a day out. The lightly raced BAY OF STARS landed a 1m4f Dundalk maiden in April, shedding his maiden tag at the second time of asking.
He has since placed in a couple of handicaps and was not beaten far when second by half a length in a decent race at Leopardstown in May. Weld’s colt shapes as if the new trip will be fine and it is very unlikely that we have seen the best of him just yet.
Day 4 acca
Saturday’s advised accumulator includes three of our experts best bets at York and the horses in question combine to form a tasty treble that pays more than 53/1 with LiveScore Bet if successful.
Bet 1: Back Damysus to win the Strensall Stakes (13:50) @ 11/4
John & Thady Gosden’s DAMYSUS is a bit of a 1m1f specialist so this Group 3 contest represents an excellent opportunity to return to winning ways. He scored over this trip and in this grade at Newmarket earlier on in the season and a repeat performance will be enough.
Bet 2: Back Notable Speech to win the City Of York Stakes (15:00) @ 7/2
NOTABLE SPEECH has won plenty of races at the top level and he should prove hard to beat here, trying 7f for the first time in his career.
Bet 3: Adonius to win the Julia Graves Roses Stakes (16:45) @ 9/4
Rebecca Menzies’ ADONIUS has had an excellent campaign so far, winning his first three starts, and that includes the Lily Agnes at Chester. Runner-up in the Molecomb on his first start after a break, improvement is anticipated, although a similar effort could do the job.
