Son slams 'unacceptable' Spurs after Fulham nightmare

Tottenham captain Heung-Min Son slammed his side's "unacceptable" display in their 3-0 defeat to Fulham.

Spurs travelled to Craven Cottage on the back of last weekend's 4-0 win at top-four rivals Aston Villa but could not reach the same heights.

Ange Postecoglou's outfit were inferior in every single department, with the impressive Rodrigo Muniz netting goals either side of a Sasa Lukic strike.

And Son, who has scored 14 Premier League goals this season, was heavily critical of the performance from both himself and those delivered by his team-mates.

The South Korean forward, 31, told Sky Sports: "It is very disappointing and very frustrating. Everybody has to look in the mirror and say, 'It is my fault'.

"It was not good enough. We didn't put in the effort we have put in this season. The performance, the attitude was not good enough.

"Everyone needs a big wake-up call. In the Premier League, if you are not ready you get punished. Aston Villa are an amazing team, but so are Fulham.

"If you are not giving 100%, you get punished. You don't get three points for free. This is two steps backwards. We now need to step forward.

"It is unacceptable, including me, it was unacceptable. We are representing Premier League teams, we are representing Tottenham.

"This was not close to what we have been doing this season. It is very sad to watch this. The fans don't deserve this.

"They are coming here with positive energy and good vibes. Losing this way is very tough. The players are very down."

The international break perhaps comes at a good time for Spurs as they are afforded the chance to regroup ahead of the run-in.

Ange's men resume Premier League action on March 30 when they host Luton, before a midweek trip to West Ham followed by a home match against relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.

The North Londoners then face a daunting four-game streak which sees them take on Newcastle, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool — a run which will likely prove decisive in their quest to qualify for the Champions League.
