The PGA Tour reaches its climax this week with the Tour Championship, where the top 30 players will be fighting over a prize pool of $40 million.
World number one Scottie Scheffler is predictably the favourite and he was 12th at last week’s BMW Championship despite being ill early in the week.
He is a clear danger, alongside Rory McIlroy, who has won at East Lake three times and was third last week, and Tommy Fleetwood, who tasted a PGA Tour victory for the first time at last year’s gathering in Atlanta.

Clark riding on the crest of a wave
Wyndham Clark has enjoyed a superb season and while the highlight was a second US Open triumph, his win at last week’s BMW Championship means he arrives at East Lake at the peak of his powers.
He was three shots ahead of Patrick Cantlay last week and had been fifth at the St Jude Championship the previous week so he is plainly peaking at just the right time.
Clark brings some good East Lake form to the table too. He was third in 2023 and, interestingly, eighth the following year after the course had undergone a huge renovation.
He also won the CJ Cup this year and will plainly not fear anyone when his game is in such good shape.

Henley may find it good to be home
Russell Henley got off to a strong start at the BMW Championship only to fade to finish 12th, but he remains one of the PGA Tour’s most consistent performers.
Playing in his home town should only spur him on and he can look back on a season where he has won the Charles Schwab Challenge and performed well in elite company when finishing third at the Masters and ninth at The Open.
He has a good chance of going well at a decent price after finishing third in 2017, fourth in 2024 and then tied for second last year when he opened with a 61.

Scott can still be a factor
Adam Scott won this tournament way back in 2006 and there seems to be a strong chance he can still be a factor.
That was one of seven top-ten finishes the Australian has recorded at the venue, including when he was fourth last year.
His ninth at The Open shows he can still mix it with the best and his 12th at the St Jude Championship and 16th at the BMW deserve respect, so don’t rule him out.
