Scotland head coach Sebastien Pocognoli is eyeing a second win in the role when Slovenia visit

Sebastien Pocognoli's first game in charge of Scotland ended in a 0-0 draw away to Slovenia but his side are strong favourites to win Tuesday's return fixture at Hampden Park.

The Scots were excellent in a 2-0 weekend win in North Macedonia, where Sassuolo striker Kieron Bowie scored his first international goal and John McGinn wrapped up the points with a second-half penalty.

Slovenia followed up their stalemate with Scotland by beating North Macedonia 2-0 at home, but they lost 2-1 in Switzerland on Saturday.

Team news

Scotland centre-back Scott McKenna is suspended after his red card against North Macedonia.

Jack Hendry is available after a ban but Swansea's Stephen Welsh could keep his place in defence.

Kieran Tierney, Kenny McLean, Scott McTominay, Lawrence Shankland and Che Adams are injury absentees for the Scots.

Slovenia are missing injured Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko, so Swansea's Zan Vipotnik should lead the line.

Prediction

Scotland never got going in their first 2026-27 Nations League home game as defender Hendry was sent off in the 11th minute of the 3-0 defeat to Switzerland.

However, their first two away performances under new boss Pocognoli have been promising and they are worthy favourites to beat Slovenia at Hampden Park.

Scotland were unfortunate not to take maximum points from their trip to Slovenia on matchday one.

They had five shots on target to their hosts' one in a goalless draw and Pocognoli will want his forwards to sharpen up their finishing in Tuesday's return fixture.

Steve Clarke's successor got his first win as Scotland manager on Saturday, when his side saw off North Macedonia 2-0.

That scoreline flattered the home team, who failed to test Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn while Pocognoli's men fired 10 shots on target.

The win featured a sparkling individual display from wing-back Ben Gannon-Doak, who had four attempts at goal – three of them on target.

Gannon-Doak is worth backing to score at any time against Slovenia and Scotland's talented wide players can help them win more corners than the visitors.

They took nine of the 10 corners in North Macedonia at the weekend and matched Brazil's tally of seven corners in their final group game at the World Cup.
