Callum Osmand praises Celtic's starters after superb cameo vs Besiktas
Callum Osmand has been speaking after his superb cameo during Celtic's dramatic 3-2 away win over Besiktas in the Europa League.
The Bhoys knew they had to win on Thursday night, and they produced one of their best performances of the season to pick up their first win in Europe this season.
The win keeps the Hoops in the competition, now needing six or seven points from their last four games. It was a dramatic late win for Celtic, who looked as though they had blown it when they conceded with five minutes to go.
That was after Osmand had scored with his first touch of the game off the bench, and he then provided a perfect through ball for Camilo Durán to score the first of two goals he netted on the evening.
Osmand may not have scored the winner, but with a goal and an assist, he couldn't have delivered a much better cameo. Still, he wanted to give plenty of credit to the much-changed starting XI that kept the Bhoys in the game for the first hour.
"The first half was so strong. The boys, the way they kept this great team quiet, they did very well," he told TNT Sports at full-time.
"Camilo has done so well. It was one of those poacher ones, so well done to him. It's tough, the nerves, you're trying to get into the game. It's a lot harder starting. But we dug in, we stayed strong and done well."
"You get so up for it. I just wanted to come on and make something happen tonight. It felt like Celta Vigo, when they score worldies, and it takes it out of you, but we did well to pick ourselves up and win the game. The place was rocking here at the end."
Osmand has a great attitude for a 20-year-old player, and it's the sort of team-first attitude that O'Neill will love. Another excellent performance from the youngster.
