Colombia and France face off against each other in Washington D.C. as they finish off their brief tours of the United States.

Nestor Lorenzo's men lost out 2-1 to Croatia, despite going ahead after just three minutes thanks to Jhon Arias.

France, however, delivered a massive statement of intent by beating Brazil 2-1 in Foxborough in midweek.

Team news

Les Bleus head coach Didier Deschamps is still missing several key players ahead of this match against the South American side.

Manu Kone, Jules Kounde and Bradley Barcola will all be absent, along with Arsenal centre-back William Saliba.

Colombia will be without the services of one-time Everton defender Yerry Mina and former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran for the friendly on Sunday evening.

James Rodriguez will win his 124th cap should he feature against the French.

The stats

France finished top of their qualifying group, scoring 16 goals across just six games to seal a place at the finals.

That works out as 2.55 goals per game and Les Bleus have scored at least twice in each of their previous 10 matches.

Colombia netted 28 goals during their own qualifying campaign, while the South American side have scored two or more goals in five of their last seven games.

France lead the head-to-head record between the two nations 3-1, winning the first three match-ups.

The last time these two countries faced each other was in March 2018, just months before France won a second world title.

France led 2-0 after 26 minutes during that clash, but Colombia scored three goals without reply to seal a wonderful 3-2 victory.

Deschamps' men are unbeaten in their last eight matches since a 5-4 defeat to Spain in the semi-finals of the 2025 Nations League.

Colombia may have lost to Croatia a few days ago, but this was their first defeat since a 2-1 defeat to Brazil in March 2025.

Lorenzo has led Colombia to 13th in the FIFA World Rankings, while France are currently second, trailing Spain by just 5.12 points.

Prediction

While both nations secured their places at the World Cup finals in relatively straightforward fashion, neither are likely to be letting up in this contest.

Plenty of players will be looking to impress ahead of the finals and a solid performance in this match could put them right in the thoughts of the manager.

France will be aiming to build on the win against Brazil, although this Colombia side will not make it easy for them.

Lorenzo led his side to wins over Brazil and Argentina during qualifying and they could well be dark horses when the World Cup finals begin this summer.

Expect the two-time world champions to emerge victorious from this match-up, however, it should be relatively tight.
