Accrington Stanley remain winless after three games, though they played well in defeat at Walsall last weekend (2-3) and would have scored a deserved late leveller had Josh Woods not missed a gilt-edged chance at the death.
Grimsby are still unbeaten, though they drew each of their last two, including the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Fleetwood. They also shared the spoils when they last visited the Crown Ground to play the Accies (1-1) in February and another draw looks possible here.

Bristol Rovers vs Colchester United (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)
Bristol Rovers dominated at Crawley last time out and racked up 27 attempts in their 2-0 win, with their formidable front four of Shaq Ford, Tommy Leigh, Bobby Kamwa and Fabrizio Cavegn 15 chipping in with 15 of those.
The Pirates could have too much firepower for a Colchester side who toiled for large parts against Rochdale on Saturday before forcing an 87th-minute winner. The U’s unbeaten start to the campaign could end at the Mem.

Cheltenham Town vs York City (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)
Cheltenham revelled in the role of underdogs in their 2-2 draw at Barnet last Saturday, with goals from Ryan Broom and Charlie McCann earning Town a point in a difficult fixture. Only Salford (20) have been conceding more shots per game on average than Cheltenham in League Two so far however, and another defeat probably isn’t far off.
York, who had wing-back Harry Boyes (two assists) to thank for their 2-1 win over Exeter at the weekend, are in third spot and remain unbeaten since their promotion. They did draw their first away assignment at Rotherham (1-1) however, and they might have to settle for something similar on Tuesday.

Chesterfield vs Gillingham (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)
Chesterfield thought they had snatched a late point at Rotherham thanks to an 88th-minute Liam Mandeville penalty, however, they conceded shortly after and eventually lost to continue their awkward start to the new season.
The Spireites, who have lost twice in three league games, will see Tuesday’s meeting with Gillingham as a chance to reset. The Gills scored their first goal in four games when Conor McManus notched in a 1-1 draw with Northampton last time out, though they could regress again here.

Crewe Alexandra vs Walsall (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)
High-flying Crewe dug in for a point at Port Vale (0-0) at the weekend and have yet to lose, however, goal-scoring remains an issue for Lee Bell’s side, who have notched fewer times (2) than any other team in League Two’s current top 13 positions.
That’s where Walsall could have the edge. The Saddlers have been averaging 2.00 goals per game so far, and they edged a nervy five-goal thriller against Accrington Stanley when last seen. They also beat Crewe twice last term, including at the Mornflake Stadium in March (3-0), so bettors should consider backing the visitors again.

Exeter City vs Barnet (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)
Exeter massaged the scoreline with a late consolation but never really threatened before that in a 2-1 loss at York at the weekend and that was their second reverse in three outings in League Two. The Grecians have been conceding 19 shots per game on average, which is a worrying stat ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with leaders Barnet.
A 2-2 draw at home to Cheltenham on Saturday was two points dropped for Barnet, though they won well at Shrewsbury (3-1) when they were last on the road and with Kabongo Tshimanga in razor-sharp form, they could deliver on their travels again on Tuesday.

Fleetwood Town vs Oldham Athletic (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)
Fleetwood came through another tricky test at Grimsby on Saturday with a well-earned point (2-2), keeping their unbeaten early record intact. Town’s 3-5-2 formation under Matt Lawlor has been making Fleetwood a nuisance and we could see more evidence of that in midweek.
Oldham meanwhile, enjoyed a 3-0 statement win over Swindon at Boundary Park on Saturday, registering 26 shots and nine attempts on target in that victory. Calum Kavanagh (1G, 2A) was influential again and with the Irish youngster in tow, Athletic can attack Fleetwood with confidence. Expect goals.

Northampton Town vs Crawley Town (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)
Winless Northampton had just one shot on target against Gillingham on Saturday, though that effort from Logan Briggs went in and was enough for the Cobblers to pick up a point (1-1). Back at Sixfields on Tuesday evening, manager Chris Hogg will want his team to attack with more incision, however, it remains to be seen if they can.
Visiting Crawley were completely outclassed by Bristol Rovers at the weekend, conceding 27 shots in a 2-0 loss, so the impetus is on Northampton to push forward here. Town rank bottom out of 24 teams in League Two for average shots per game (4) so far, however, so don’t expect fireworks.

Rochdale vs Shrewsbury Town (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)
Rock-bottom Rochdale are propping up the rest in League Two, having lost three times on the spin. Margins were tight in Saturday’s 1-0 reverse at Colchester, though the Dale did only manufacture 0.66 in expected goals in that loss and only Swindon have a lower total xG figure in the division so far overall.
Shrewsbury meanwhile, forced a confidence-building win over Salford (1-0) at the weekend, limiting the Ammies to just a single shot on target. Leaning on that solid defensive display, they will back themselves to keep a shot-shy Rochdale outfit at arm’s length.

Salford City vs Newport County (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)
Peter Cklamovski’s nightmare start to life with Salford continued on Saturday when City lost 1-0 at Shrewsbury. That was the Ammies third straight defeat in League Two and they failed to score in the last two of those. Salford will kick Tuesday’s game off as odds-on favourites to beat Newport, though there is little value in backing them to win.
In contrast to Salford, Newport have been carrying plenty of threat. They have scored 2+ goals in each of their first three League Two fixtures of the campaign, with summer recruit Shaquille Gwengwe making a real impact. He scored twice in County’s 2-2 draw with Tranmere at the weekend and he can feature in another positive result for Newport here.

Swindon Town vs Port Vale (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)
Swindon were thoroughly outplayed at Oldham (3-0) on Saturday in a limp display that has the potential to be a real confidence knocker. The Robins were also very fortunate to scrape a win over Cheltenham in their last match at the County Ground, having registered just five shots to their opponents’ 14.
Ian Holloway’s side aren’t quite at it and it makes little sense to back them against Port Vale. The visiting Valiants haven’t won since their relegation, though back-to-back draws against Tranmere (1-1) and Crewe (0-0) were accompanied by steady displays and they could avoid defeat again on Tuesday.

Tranmere maintained their unbeaten start to the new League Two campaign under Darrell Clarke with a 2-2 draw at Newport at the weekend. Summer signings Zane Okoro and Tom Ince, who lodged eight shots between them, have settled in fast and Rovers will fancy their chances against Rotherham on Tuesday.
Paul Mullin got off the mark for the Millers with a last-minute winner against Chesterfield on Saturday to earn Rotherham a first win since their relegation from League One. Buoyed by that, Alex Bruce’s side can play with renewed enthusiasm on Merseyside.
