Rochdale conceded 24 shots and seven shots on target but somehow escaped from Walsall (0-0) with a point last weekend, and their battling display earned praise post-match from boss Ian Watson. The Dale remain bottom of the pile ahead of Saturday’s date with Greater Manchester rivals Oldham, however.
The Latics’ perfect record at Boundary Park was ended in a 2-1 reverse to Chesterfield last time out, while they’ve yet to win away, losing two and drawing one of their first three assignments on the road in League Two. Oldham could be disappointed again by dogged Dale.

Two unbeaten sides collide at The Hive Stadium when early League Two leaders Barnet host a much-improved Fleetwood. Aided by a brace from Charlie Lakin, Barnet came from behind to beat Accrington Stanley when last seen to halt a frustrating sequence of three successive draws.
Fleetwood meanwhile, have already drawn four times in six outings in the fourth tier, though they were hanging on at times in last weekend’s 1-1 tie at Newport. Chesterfield’s 2-1 victory at Oldham last weekend felt like a welcome return to form for the playoff hopefuls, though York’s 4-0 thumping of Swindon the same day was the definition of a statement win by the promoted side.

Northampton and Rotherham were relegated last season and both have struggled to adapt to life in League Two so far after a shared summer of upheaval. The Cobblers have won only once in six attempts and are the division’s joint-lowest scorers with just three goals.
Rotherham have the same points total as Northampton (6), but they have shown more punch in attack, scoring nine times so far.
