Draw-specialists Grimsby shared the spoils for the fourth game running when they came from two goals down to earn parity at Cheltenham last weekend. They’re still unbeaten after five fixtures overall, however, they haven’t managed to win since their opening day triumph over Exeter (1-0).
Bristol Rovers came through a couple of late scares to beat Rotherham (1-0) when last seen to firm up their position at the summit. Colchester United vs Crewe Alexandra (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Colchester took an early lead through Kylian Kouassi but eventually lost 3-1 at Swindon last weekend, despite manufacturing four big chances to their hosts’ three. The U’s were also on the wrong end of a couple of strange penalty decisions, though manager Danny Cowley saw encouraging signs in the performance.
Crewe meanwhile, frustrated York (1-1) in their last outing, though they conceded 27 shots and six big chances in that nervy display and they are unlikely to be as fortunate if their defending is similarly lax on Saturday. Colchester have already won two games out of two at home and they can push for a third successive victory at the JobServe Community Stadium here.

Gillingham vs Tranmere Rovers (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Gillingham posted a first win of the new campaign at ten-man Rochdale (4-1) last weekend, aided by a brace from James Brophy. The Gills were already three up and cruising before their hosts had a man sent off in the second half and their display was easily their best of the season so far.
Tranmere meanwhile, continue to impress under summer hire Darrell Clarke. Newport’s opening day win over Rochdale (3-0) already feels like a lifetime ago and County’s 1-0 loss at Northampton last week was their third defeat in four matches. Now down to 20th position, the Exiles only had two shots in that loss to the Cobblers, just one of which came during open play.
In contrast, Fleetwood have yet to lose and goals from Ronan Coughlan and on-loan Fulham striker Aaron Loupalo-Bi fired them to victory over Shrewsbury (2-0) in their last test. The Cod Army are unbeaten in seven games now in all competitions, so back them to secure another positive result in Wales.

Oldham Athletic vs Chesterfield (Saturday, 3:00 pm)
Oldham’s away-day troubles were on show again last weekend, when they lost 2-0 at Tranmere, despite having the better of it in terms of possession, shots, shots on target and big chances created. That loss was a particularly bitter pill for manager Micky Mellon against his old club.

Defensively, bottom side Port Vale have been half-decent this season and only four teams in League Two have conceded fewer shots than the Valiants (53) since the start of the campaign. However, goal-scoring remains a real issue and they failed to score for the third time in five matches in their 1-0 loss at Salford last weekend.
Exeter meanwhile, came through a tough gauntlet of fixtures against York (1-2), Barnet (1-1) and Walsall (0-0) with credit and Matt Taylor’s side is dogged enough to dig in again at Vale Park. City have been averaging less than a goal per game however, so this one is unlikely to thrill.
