Watch: Rabiot’s stunner not enough as Milan concede cheaply in Sassuolo – the highlights
The overwhelming feeling is that AC Milan dropped two points on Sunday night as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Sassuolo.
After a first half in which Milan started slow but finished strong, Adrien Rabiot’s rocket of a shot gave Ruben Amorim’s men the lead just after the hour mark. It felt like the game was in hand, but then the home side struck back with a weak goal from a corner that Odenthal got the finishing touch on.
There were some controversial incidents in the game too, such as Goncalo Ramos and Koni De Winter not getting penalties for what looked like potential infringements inside the box, and a nasty studs-up challenge from Lauriente on Mario Gila going unpunished.
However, the end result is that Milan have drawn their third Serie A game in six. The unbeaten run continues but the gap to the leaders has grown, and it starts a difficult run of nine games inside a month in a bit of an underwhelming way.
