In his post-match interview, Adrien Rabiot was brutally honest about AC Milan’s situation and Ruben Amorim has been left disappointed.

It’s not been the best start to life for Amorim at Milan. Unfortunately, the Portuguese’s vision for a dominant, attacking side have not been seen regularly. Maybe this is a poor game to judge, just coming back from the international break.

However, the Sassuolo fixture proved that there is still a lot of work to do.

There is time, of course, but Gerry Cardinale has been left disappointed by several things and improvements must arrive in the near future. After all, Amorim’s idea for a stylish Rossoneri side has not been offered as a constant.

Rabiot’s admission is true

Speaking in his post-game interview, Rabiot analysed where the team are falling short and Antonio Vitiello has furthered the criticism of the Diavolo in an editorial for MilanNews this morning.

“The AC Milan we saw in Reggio Emilia didn’t convince anyone. The concepts Ruben Amorim would like to bring haven’t been seen yet, and he himself was deeply disappointed after the 1-1 draw with Sassuolo.

“The team took a step back in several areas, both offensively and defensively. The way they controlled the game after Rabiot’s goal wasn’t appreciated, and the final minutes lacked the energy needed to win the game.

“But it was the French midfielder himself who highlighted an important aspect of this AC Milan side.

“Rabiot has identified a problem that should be seriously addressed this week at Milanello. Rabiot says that AC Milan aren’t getting players into the penalty area; they’re not occupying the space near the opponent’s goal well.

“It’s not just the attackers, but also the midfielders who aren’t getting into the box and the full-backs who aren’t doing their job optimally in attack. “We need to put more men in the box when we attack. That’s how we score goals. We go with fewer players. We need to improve on this too. The midfielders need to get into the box, and the full-backs need to play attacking.”

“It seems like Rabiot has identified one of this team’s problems. But it’s equally true that work needs to be done urgently; otherwise they’ll continue to drop points along the way.”

It certainly would help a few problems if Rabiot’s criticism were fixed.
