Tuttosport: Milan eyeing Brighton star with difficult midfield mission in mind
Another Italian newspaper has spoken about AC Milan’s Luka Modric succession plan, revealing a couple of transfer targets.
As much as everyone loves him, Modric sadly cannot keep going forever. This season feels like a bonus for Milan, who are once again enjoying the quality, intensity, experience and leadership of the Ballon d’Or winner.
His future beyond 2026-27 remains a mystery for now. Although Modric has said he’s enjoying himself and doesn’t want to look too far ahead, it’s only right that Milan begin to consider alternative solutions for its future given the size of the hole he will leave.
Modric’s heir: Two ideas from England
The international break has allowed the management to plan for some things that are perhaps a few months away, rather than just the winter business the club also plan to do.
Tuttosport (via MilanNews) confirm that the Rossoneri are on the hunt for a successor to Modric, should the star player decide to end his time with the Rossoneri and perhaps even retire from football altogether.
The target at the top of the list is Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, who made his England debut (against Modric’s Croatia) a few days ago. However, he’s not the only name being pursued given his asking price and the competition.
Milan are also watching Yasin Ayari closely, who has been one of the stars of a brilliant start to the season for Brighton. The Swedish midfielder stood out at the World Cup and he too would demand a large outlay to win the race.
