Totti: “Panini stickers? As a child, I used to stick one team upside down. Is the time right to return to Roma? No”
The former Roma captain and legend has shared several anecdotes about his childhood and his relationship with Panini stickers. All have a Roma flavour, although a return to Trigoria is now impossible.
Francesco Totti will watch Roma face Real Madrid in the Champions League at Rome's Stadio Olimpico this evening. This morning, he also attended the launch of the Calciatori Panini 2026/2027 sticker album, which features him as a Serie A legend.
Roma came up on stage and afterwards in the mixed zone, along with a quip that has already made Roma fans laugh. Gasperinil, described as the team's star player, can believe in the Serie A title. Totti, though, cannot return to the club today.
Can Roma win the Serie A title?
"Are Roma Serie A title contenders, or is something still missing? They can compete. We know Inter have an extra gear, but Roma are a team who can give them a run for their money. Everyone at Roma is doing well, but Gasperini makes the difference: he is building a great group who want to win."
Real Madrid
"Roma play tonight, although Real are up next. They aren't the Real Madrid of our day, when they really were Galácticos. You always have to show respect; it's a difficult Champions League match for both sides. When you come to play at the Olimpico in front of 70,000 people, it isn't easy."
Mourinho
"I think there will be a great welcome today. The manager has given a lot to this city and this team. He reached two consecutive European finals, so this tribute is only right."
“Stickers? A team upside down”
I grew up with Panini. Back then, a packet cost 200 lire, and those were unforgettable times. It was hard to complete the album quickly, but it was fun because you spent half the afternoon sticking in the stickers. There was one team, though, whose stickers I put in upside down. I can't say which one.
Lazio
"Honestly, I didn’t expect this from Lazio, but they’re a team who are doing well, so hats off to them."
Return to Roma?
"Is the time right for a return to Roma? No"
