TMW: Union-Saint-Gilloise star emerges as latest idea to replace Modric at Milan
AC Milan are aware that they will have to sign a midfielder who can fill the void left by Luka Modric’s exit, likely at the end of the season.
During an update on TMW, Niccolò Ceccarini took stock of the business that Milan plan to do both in the upcoming winter window and next summer. It starts with the pursuit of a new central defender, with two ideas in mind.
The first is Gonçalo Inacio of Sporting CP, but the Portuguese club are asking for €35-40m to sell him. The other opportunity is Tiago Gabriel, another player Milan tried for in the summer and could return to, even though Fiorentina are also in the running.
Replacing Luka
The Rossoneri are also looking ahead to next season and here the idea is to bring in a strong player who can partially compensate for the departure of Modric. Obviously the task is extremely difficult but Milan has already started to follow some profiles.
One of these is Alex Scott of Bournemouth, who is impressing everyone in the Premier League. It is no coincidence that Arsenal and Chelsea have already been keeping close tabs on him, which could result in a high price tag.
However, he is not the only one as the spotlight has recently been turned on Brighton’s Yasin Ayari. A versatile midfielder, he performs at a high level both as a defensive midfielder and a bit further forward.
The Swede could become an opportunity because his contract expires in June 2027, although the English club have the option to extend it unilaterally until 2028.
There’s another profile on the list of Milan directors: Adem Zorgane, the Algerian from Union-Saint-Gilloise, who combines physicality with good technical qualities.
