The biggest wins in Champions League history: Como join Liverpool and Real Madrid
Como have written their name into the Champions League record books after producing a remarkable 9-1 demolition of Lens.
Cesc Fabregas' side became just the third team in the competition's history to win a match by an eight-goal margin, equalling the record set by Liverpool and Real Madrid. Their extraordinary result in France places them alongside two of European football's most famous clubs, and brings back memories of some of the competition's most one-sided encounters.
Here, we look back at the biggest winning margins in Champions League history.
Liverpool 8-0 Beşiktaş, 06/11/2007
Liverpool became the first team in Champions League era to win by an eight-goal margin after battering Besiktas during the 2007/08 campaign.
Runners-up the previous season, Rafael Benitez's side had earned only one point from their first three games before a stunning win over the Turkish side turned their campaign around.
Yossi Benayoun scored a hat-trick for the home side, with Peter Crouch and Ryan Babel bagging braces. Steven Gerrard was also on target in a record-setting win for the Reds.
Real Madrid 8-0 Malmö, 08/12/2015
Real Madrid matched Liverpool's record scoreline eight years later, with Cristiano Ronaldo predictably at the heart of it. Ronaldo scored four goals as the Swedish side were thrashed at the Bernabeu.
Karim Benzema also scored a hat-trick, as the pair became the first two teammates to score trebles in the same Champions League game. Mateo Kovacic completed the rout, for a Real Madrid side that went on to conquer Europe, beating Atletico Madrid in the final.
Lens 1-9 Como, 04/11/2026
Como's first-ever Champions League campaign is turning into a memorable one. The Italians trounced Manchester United in a statement result earlier in the league phase, before a record-equalling performance at Lens.
Cesc Fabregas' side recorded the biggest-ever away win in the Champions League era, and became only the second team to score nine goals, after Bayern Munich beat Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 in 2024.
Como had seven different scorers in France, headlined by a hat-trick from Anastasios Douvikas.
