Aleksandar Stankovic makes his first start for Inter against Venezia this evening, the first time he has faced his older brother Filip, who is in goal for the Lagunari.

The Stankovic brothers had never played against each other before tonight. TuttoMercatoWeb note that they have only shared a pitch as teammates, a couple of times for Serbia rather than for the club where both grew up. Their father Dejan, a Treble winner with Inter in 2010, is at the Penzo to watch.

Aleksandar, three years younger than Filip, has finally got his chance in Cristian Chivu’s starting XI. He lines up as one of the three central midfielders, with Inter needing three points to draw level again with leaders Lazio.

Stankovic brothers both came through Inter academy

Both brothers came through the Nerazzurri youth system. Aleksandar left for Club Brugge in 2025, and Inter brought him back this summer by triggering a €23m buyback clause. He signed a contract until 2031.

Filip went the other way, joining Venezia permanently in 2024. Inter kept a 50% sell-on clause, and he has since extended his contract with the Lagunari until 2030.

The goalkeeper has already caused problems for one big side this season. He kept a clean sheet in Venezia’s 1-0 win over Napoli in Davide Nicola’s first game in charge.
