Spence in contention for Inter debut against Parma: ‘He’s available’
England international Djed Spence is finally in contention to make his Inter debut this coming weekend after being declared fit and available by head coach Cristian Chivu: ‘We’re pleased that he’s back’.
Chivu confirms Spence will be in the Inter squad for Parma
Spence joined Inter in a €35m transfer from Tottenham Hotspur shortly after his experience at the 2026 World Cup with England.
It has been a long wait to see the versatile full-back in action for his new club, though, following an extended holiday after the World Cup and a lengthy rehabilitation process to recover from a physical issue after that.
Spence’s first minutes in an Inter shirt came during a training ground friendly against Lumezzane during the international break, and he will now be hoping to earn his first competitive appearance when the Nerazzurri take on Parma in Serie A at 17.00 BST on Saturday evening.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Friday, Chivu confirmed that Spence will be part of the matchday squad for the first time this weekend.
“He’s been training with us for a week, we couldn’t just ignore his rehabilitation period, plus the holidays after the World Cup. If I add it all up, he’s missed two months of work on the pitch. He’s available, he will be called up and we’re pleased that he’s back,” Chivu confirmed.
