Sources in Germany are confirming that Markus Krösche should be announced by AC Milan in the coming weeks, ready to start in January.

It is seemingly not a very well-kept secret by this point that Milan are looking to appoint Krösche as their new Head of Football, having made an attempt to get him in the summer. Sources in Italy have claimed things are done, but their German colleagues have always been a bit more hesitant.

Work still to be done

Now, Sky Germany confirm that Krösche’s future likely lies in Italy because a move to Milan is becoming increasingly likely. However, no deal has been finalised yet: officials from both clubs still need to hold talks as Krösche is only on leave from Frankfurt.

His contract, which runs until 2028, is currently still valid. The 46-year-old insisted on having a release clause included in his contract. Specifically, this means that any club wanting to hire him before the summer of 2027 will have to pay a fee of approximately €5-7m, or negotiate with Eintracht.

No advanced talks have yet taken place, but Sky do add that Krösche is expected to take on the role of Head of Football with Milan. A start date of January 1, 2027 – coinciding with the start of the winter transfer window – is being discussed.

Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt have already settled the question of Krösche’s successor. Joti Chatzialexiou is coming from 1. FC Nürnberg and will take over the position of sporting director. So, it seems like just a matter of time.
