The eve of AC Milan’s Europa League game against Bournemouth has not been kind for Ruben Amorim, who has lost two players.

According to Sky, after the match against Atalanta, Chukwueze complained of hip pain. He’s scheduled for a specialist check-up to see what the best course of action is, which could mean a prolonged absence.

The Nigerian was absent from training on the eve of the Europa League match away to Bournemouth. The former Villarreal man will have his tests in the next few hours, but it appears to be a serious injury, and his time on the sidelines may not be short.

This injury poses an additional problem for Amorim, especially on the right flank, given Alexis Saelemaekers’ long absence. The Belgian underwent ankle surgery last week and will be out for four or five months.

Amorim has used Chukwueze extensively so far this season. In Serie A, he’s been fielded seven times in seven games, including six as a starter (the only one he did not start was against Juventus).

In the Europa League, he played 90 minutes in the first match against Benfica and was an unused substitute in the second against Red Bull Salzburg.

It follows the news that Goncalo Ramos has a calf issue and will also not travel with the team, while it might also accelerate discussions Milan are planning to have with Lyon about ending Zachary Athekame’s loan early.
