Last night, the Ballon d’Or ceremony took place and Andriy Shevchenko was present, as one of the players immortalised with the golden ball.

Very few clubs in the world can boast the record which Milan do when it comes to the Ballon d’Or. In fact, they have had more winners play for them than anyone else. Of course, Luka Modric currently represents the club, but he’s far from being the only player to win the award and play their home games at San Siro.

George Weah, Gianni Rivera, Jean-Pierre Papin, Marco Van Basten, Kaká and Ruud Gullit won the award whilst representing the club, but they’re not alone. In short, the club’s history is interlinked with the golden ball, and the hope is that this will continue in years to come.

Shevchenko’s assessments

Speaking on the red carpet at the Ballon d’Or ceremony last night, Shevchenko looked at the Rossoneri’s start to the season and what is coming next, as MilanNews relayed from DAZN.

What kind of derby will it be? Very open as always, Milan beat Udinese, three very important points for the team’s morale. A very good match, fought by both teams. Amorim? He’s working with the team to succeed and put his ideas on the pitch.

“The results haven’t always been what they wanted, but he’s had a good start to the season.”
