Roma without 5 against Genoa as Gasperini calls up Primavera players
Roma will be without five first-team players for Saturday’s Serie A meeting with Genoa, with Gian Piero Gasperini drafting several Primavera players into his squad.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Mile Svilar, Bryan Cristante, Manu Koné and Paulo Dybala are all ruled out through injury, while Donyell Malen is suspended.
Malen and Dybala miss Roma vs. Genoa
Malen’s absence is a significant blow, after the Dutchman scored twice in Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid at the Olimpico. Roma led 3-1 heading into the closing stages, only for Los Blancos to score three times in the final eight minutes to win 4-3.
Gasperini’s side will look to respond in the league, where they remain unbeaten after six games. Roma sit third on 14 points, having conceded just three goals so far.
Genoa arrive in 17th place on four points, but picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina last time out. They are coached by former Roma captain and coach Daniele De Rossi, who returns to the Olimpico for the first time in the opposition dugout.
Kick-off is at 20:45 CET (19:45 BST).
