Roma eye former Inter player in January to strengthen their defence
Roma continue to consider a defensive signing for January.
Roma are not done yet. In January, they will look to strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini's squad so they can keep fighting at the top of the league and beyond.
Beyond a signing on the flank, Roma also want another defensive reinforcement. According to Fichajes, they are considering Lorenzo Pirola.
Eyes on Pirola
Roma want a young, reliable centre-back, preferably right-footed and strong in the air, who can step in for either Ghilardi or Koulierakis, who has not impressed Gasperini.
According to Fichajes, Lorenzo Pirola could fit the bill. Born in 2002, he now plays for Olympiakos after coming through Inter's youth academy and spending time at Monza and Salernitana.
Finally in the starting line-up
Pirola was once considered one of Italy's best young defensive prospects, but fitness problems and injuries hampered him early in his career.
In Greece, he is finally finding a place in the starting line-up under Imanol Alguacil and has made 12 appearances, all starts, across Champions League qualifying, the Europa League and the league.
Low-cost opportunity
Olympiacos signed Pirola from Salernitana in the summer of 2024 for 3 million. His contract expires on 30 June 2028, which could give Roma the chance to sign him at a low cost.
