Reports: Milan in ‘advanced talks’ with Krösche – the summer background and what has changed
After a search that has gone on for months, AC Milan seem to have finally got their man as Markus Krösche is set to join.
Milan were linked with hiring Krösche for the Head of Football role during the summer and he appeared to be on the way until Eintracht Frankfurt put up a wall and refused to let him leave. The position remained vacant in the Rossoneri ranks, with Gerry Cardinale not hiring an alternative.
On Sunday night, while Milan were beating Atalanta to go back into the top four, the news broke that the German executive is leaving Eintracht. Then, it was reported by various sources that a move to Italy is on the cards after all.
Krösche to Milan: The background and the present
Fabrizio Romano has published the following: “AC Milan are in advanced talks to appoint Markus Krösche as new Head of Football. Krösche left Eintracht Frankfurt today.”
In a video published on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto spoke a bit more about the Krösche situation, confirming that he is now very close to joining Milan. His words are via MilanNews.
“AC Milan smile on the pitch by winning 3-2 against Atalanta and are ever closer to completion, or at least to the insertion of another very important piece regarding the organisational structure of the club at a sporting level,” he began.
“We have been talking to you for some time about how Gerry Cardinale is trying to implement, to improve the organisational structure by inserting a Head of Football. And today [yesterday] the official confirmation arrived that Marcus Krosche, former sporting director of Eintracht Frankfurt, has officially separated from the German club.
“The parties have decided to end this adventure together. It was a very important stage that saw Krosche do an excellent job from a sporting point of view and after having signed players even on free transfers such as Kolo Muani and Marmoush, he then resold at very high prices.
“At this moment, Marcus Krosche is very close to becoming Milan’s new Head of Football. Let’s say the financial aspect isn’t a problem because the parties reached an agreement some time ago, in fact in June.
“Then, in recent weeks, it’s true that we told you how AC Milan had reconnected with Krosche in September and early October. The financial aspect was never a problem because the agreement was actually already in place.
“It just needed to be figured out how to best structure the work, dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. So, what powers will he have within AC Milan, how will he fit in within the structure and with those who are already present within the AC Milan world?
“A few points simply needed to be ironed out. The parties have been negotiating at length, even in recent days, and now I can tell you that Krosche is finally very close to becoming AC Milan’s new Head of Football.
“Back in June, Milan tried everything they could to acquire Krösche. The real problem has always been the financial agreement between Eintracht and the option to leave. So, while it’s true that there was a summer transfer window to prepare for in June, it would have been difficult for Krosche to walk away from the Eintracht project at that point in time.
“However, the real obstacle has always been the financial agreement between Eintracht and Krosche, and also between Eintracht and Milan, because Eintracht had asked Milan for compensation to release Marcus Krosche.
“Contacts have always continued, they have never stopped. Krosche has always been the first name on the list for Milan and now we are close to a happy ending. Now it remains to be seen whether Krösche will bring with him another figure within the structure.
“For now, we can say that the person who accompanied him and has been accompanying him for some time at Eintracht, namely Timmo Hardung, will remain at Eintracht because he is seen as Krösche’s de facto successor and therefore, in short, he will not be the one accompanying Krösche to the Rossoneri. In the coming days, constant contact between the parties will be held to finalise this agreement.
“Finally, I want to clarify something about Krösche: when he was one step away from joining Milan in the summer, the German had already given his approval to the appointment of Ruben Amorim as the new Rossoneri coach, so in short, there will be no problem between Krosche and the Portuguese coach.”
