Report: Inter scouting Stuttgart defender Jeltsch but face Barcelona competition
Wednesday’s reports claim that Inter are interested in a future deal for VfB Stuttgart and Germany U21s defender Finn Jeltsch, but that the Nerazzurri will face stiff competition from a number of Europe’s biggest clubs including Barcelona.
Report: Inter want VfB Stuttgart talent Jeltsch
According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Inter have sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old Jeltsch in action on several occasions over the last year. It has been claimed that the Nerazzurri have also spoken to the defender’s agents and representatives multiple times.
Jeltsch plays at centre-back in a back four for Stuttgart, but Inter feel that he would be equally as capable playing either in the middle or on the right hand side of Cristian Chivu’s back three.
The youngster reportedly earns a gross salary in the region of €1.3m per season with Stuttgart, and offering an increase on those figures would not be a major issue for the Nerazzurri.
What could be more problematic is the price tag that Stuttgart will seek to sell the young defender, which will reportedly be around €40m.
What’s more is that several other top European sides are said to be interested in Jeltsch, including Barcelona. Reports from Spanish outlet Sport claim that Jeltsch is Hansi Flick’s first choice if Barca are to bring in a new defender in the near future.
Inter hope that they will have an opportunity to discuss a potential deal for Jeltsch when they host VfB Stuttgart in San Siro in the Champions League league phase on November 25.
