Adrien Rabiot was not happy with the goal that AC Milan conceded soon after taking the lead against Sassuolo, leading to two points dropped.

Both goals came in the second half at the Mapei Stadium. Firstly, Rabiot rocketed a shot past Muric at the near post to give Milan the lead, before Odenthal was in the right place at the right time to equalise from a corner that was poorly defended to say the least. In the end, it finished 1-1.

While Sassuolo have often been a tough opponent for Milan and they have already beaten Juventus at home this season, going in front and failing to see the game out was something that head coach Ruben Amorim insisted cannot leave the team satisfied.

Rabiot spoke to Sky after the final whistle in Reggio Emilia to offer his thoughts on what was a frustrating night overall, a third draw in six Serie A games. MilanNews transcribed his comments.

Are you satisfied with this match?

“We do some good things, but then sometimes we don’t do what we should do well. After the goal, we immediately conceded two chances, and Mike saved us, and then there was this goal from a set piece.

“These are difficult things to understand; we need to rewatch the game and analyse everything. I think we played well, but we could have done much better given the players we have and the way we worked this week.

“Sassuolo, however, are a good team. They have strong players who make things difficult for you and who have quality, so it’s not easy. We can’t concede goals like that, because it’s a situation we work on almost every day. These are small details, but in the end, I think we lost two points.”

Are you still searching for your identity?

“We also adapt to our opponents. During the week, we work differently depending on the team we’re facing. I think it’s also a strength to be able to defend with four or three men, to play with three players or four, and it’s useful to try more players in different positions.

“So, it’s true that we have work to do, obviously, but tonight there were also some easy things we could have done that we got wrong on a technical level, and that’s not good.”
