Pulisic happy after MOTM performance vs. Udinese: “When Modric has the ball, that’s my job”
Christian Pulisic has admitted that he didn’t know whether to celebrate his goal against Udinese or not due to a potential offside.
Milan ended up securing a rather comfortable 2-0 win over Udinese on Sunday night at the Stadio Friuli, and Pulisic got the team off to a great start with a moment of real quality early on. He brought down Luka Modric’s ball over the top with a lovely touch and then finished past Okoye.
Omari Hutchinson would get the second goal in the second half to ultimately make sure of the three points in what was an important bounce-back performance from Ruben Amorim’s side after their defeat in Bournemouth.
Pulisic spoke to DAZN after the game to offer his take on the win, with his words relayed by MilanNews. It marks a fifth win in six for the American against Udinese, and a sixth goal contribution too.
Can you tell us about the goal?
“When Modric has the ball, that’s my job: to attack the space behind. I saw the space, I moved in, I had a good first touch and I scored.”
You didn’t celebrate straight away, did you think you were offside?
“Yes, last week I had one disallowed for offside and I didn’t want to celebrate too early.”
Who did you give the shirt you scored your first goal for AC Milan to?
“I gave it to my mom.”
Was it the right approach from the team today?
“We have to start games like we did today. Other times, it took us a while to get into the game. But if we come onto the pitch like we did today, then we’ll find consistency.”
Do you feel like a leader?
“There are many leaders in the team. I don’t talk much, but I want to prove it on the pitch. Today, even with injuries, the others played a great game. We’re a strong team.”
Now an interesting week awaits…
“It won’t be easy against Bologna. Then, after that, we’ll think about the derby.”
Who wins the Ballon d’Or?
“Mbappé.”
