Player Ratings: Lazio 2-1 Parma – Belahyane & Taylor Run The Show
At the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Lazio seized first place in the table after overcoming their visitors, Parma.
While the first half ended goalless, the Biancocelesti scored twice in the first 15 minutes after the restart. Kenneth Taylor broke the deadlock, while Diego Carlos beat his own goalkeeper. The home side then wasted a host of chances to make it 3-0, thus keeping the Ducali in the game. In the final minutes, Simoni Lontani gave his team a consolation goal he didn’t know much about thanks to an overhit cross.
It’s now time to hand out our player ratings for Lazio, who beat Parma to remain unbeaten in Serie A this season.
Lazio XI (4-3-3)
Christos Mandas – 6.5
The Greek goalkeeper had a sensational first half, pulling off superb saves on David Romero and El Bilal Toure. While he was almost a bystander in the second period, his evening was blemished by a cross he misjudged, allowing it to sail over his head and sneak past the goal line with the help of the post.
Romano Floriani Mussolini – 6.5
The young right-back’s style doesn’t always steal the limelight, but his constant running, generosity and tactical discipline have been crucial for Lazio.
Josip Sutalo – 6
Another mixed bag from the Croatian, who had his nervy moments against Toure in the first half, but eventually prevailed in the duel and made some vital interventions.
Oliver Provstgaard – 5.5
It wasn’t necessarily a bad display from the Danish defender, but David Romero put him in trouble on a few too many occasions, and he also got cautioned, hence why Gennaro Gattuso decided to act at half-time, replacing him with Leite
Nuno Tavares – 6.5
The Portuguese left-back may lose some points for his poor finishing and a few misplaced passes early in the match, but it was still another influential display on the left flank. His tricky ball to the mouth of the goal sparked Carlos’ own goal.
Davide Frattesi – 6.5
The Italian international was livid with the referee who denied him a penalty after being brought down inside the box by Mariano Triolo. He did the dirty work in midfield, but squandered a couple of inviting chances to score.
Reda Belahyane – 7
The Moroccan consolidated his role as Lazio’s ultimate metronome. He instigated both goals, especially the second, when he won back possession in a dangerous area.
Kenneth Taylor – 7
The Dutchman started the game on a poor note, as he almost gifted Parma a goal. Nevertheless, he grew with the game and showed his clinical touch when he opened the scoring with a low drive. He then picked up Tavares with a clever ball on the second goal.
Gustav Isaksen – 6.5
Another impressive display from the in-form winger, who was incredibly unlucky not to score in the first half after hitting the woodwork with a header and then having a goal disallowed for a marginal offside.
Tijjani Noslin – 6
The versatile attacker deserved an assist for his remarkable through ball to Isaksen’s disallowed goal. His movement played an instrumental role in Diego Carlos’ own goal.
Mattia Zaccagni – 6.5
The captain didn’t have a marquee moment, but was often involved in Lazio’s most dangerous plays. He almost got an assist after setting up Isaksen’s header with a wonderful cross.
Substitutes
Diogo Leite – 6
Lazio looked solid at the back with the Portuguese on the pitch, but he should avoid making needlessly reckless challenges, as they will eventually cost the team.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru – 6
The Nigerian added energy in midfield and was heavily involved in the final third, but his final execution left much to be desired.
Manuel Lazzari – N/A
Alfonso Pedraza – N/A
