Ordine explains why Ausilio would entertain Milan role despite Inter past but ‘not right away’
Franco Ordine believes that Piero Ausilio might consider becoming AC Milan director, but not until some time into the future.
It has been in the news for weeks now that Gerry Cardinale wants to appoint a new Head of Football to complete the current management structure and assist with the day-to-day handling of tasks, both in terms of transfer strategy and being a presence at Milanello.
Markus Krösche and Tiago Pinto are believed to be the two leading candidates based on recent reports. However, there have also been calls – most recently from Carlo Pellegatti – for the Rossoneri to approach Ausilio, who recently left Inter after 28 years.
In his latest column for MilanNews, journalist Franco Ordine gave his take on the situation and he addressed the possibility that the Italian could cross the city divide so quickly.
“Regarding Piero, Inter’s sporting director for many years and a highly regarded manager, I agree with Carlo Pellegatti. He would be an ideal candidate to fill the current technical void at AC Milan, and he would allow Amorim to have someone who knows Italian football and its players inside out.
“However, the person directly involved, a man from another era in the beautiful world of Italian football, doesn’t agree with us. Anyone who has spoken to him personally understands his position perfectly.
“A move to Milan might not be possible right away, but perhaps after a trip abroad. But not right away, I repeat, because the man meets qualities that are difficult to find in managers these days.”
