Samuel Mbangula labelled scoring a hat-trick against AC Milan as ‘one of the best nights’ of his life, as he fired Bologna to victory.

It was a rollercoaster night at San Siro, one in which Milan trailed early on, then came back to lead, before a complete collapse in the second half that left sections of the fans jeering as the final few minutes played out.

Milan trailed early to a goal from Samuel Mbangula, but they went into half-time 2-1 up thanks to Alphadjo Cisse’s brace. The second half was a disaster though as an own-goal and two more from Mbangula allowed Bologna to inflict a first league defeat of the season on the Rossoneri.

Mbangula spoke to DAZN after the full-time whistle to give his thoughts on what was a very memorable evening for him, as he opened his account for his new club after the summer move.

“It’s one of the best nights of my life. First hat-trick of my career, I hope it’s not the last. It was a beautiful victory. The coach has great confidence, everyone is strong and can play. We are united, today is a team victory,” he said (via MilanNews).

Alongside the match-winner, Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski spoke to DAZN about the victory as well, praising the strength of the team’s reaction.

“Perhaps the best thing was the team’s reaction. We were down 2-1, but in the end we won 4-2. We’ll enjoy it tonight, then we’ll immediately think about Saturday, where we have another match. Mbangula’s hat-trick? I told him he has to take us out to dinner next week.”
