Official: Starting XIs for Genoa vs. AC Milan – five changes from Ferencvaros defeat

Having been comfortably beaten by Ferencvaros in midweek, the pressure is on Milan and Amorim to deliver against a resurgent Genoa. It is a familiar feeling, given the derby became a must-win after the Bologna defeat, and the Udinese victory was after the Bournemouth debacle.

The task is not made easier by the list of injuries. Pietro Terracciano, Matteo Gabbia, Fikayo Tomori, Alexis Saelemaekers, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Samuel Chukwueze and Strahinja Pavlovic are all out, with all of them long-term issues barring the Serbian centre-back.

Amorim has opted to go with a four-man defence composed of Mario Gila, Koni De Winter, Sankhoun Diawara and Pervis Estupinan ahead of the goalkeeper and captain Mike Maignan, who returns having served his Europa League suspension on Thursday.

The midfield engine room will feature Yunus Musah and Luka Modric in the double pivot, with Adrien Rabiot just a bit ahead of them. Diego Moreira and Christian Pulisic will provide width on the right and left respectively, with Gonçalo Ramos leading the line.

The bench is made up of mostly Milan Futuro players again given the aforementioned injury woes, though Davide Bartesaghi, Ardon Jashari, Omari Hutchinson, Alphadjo Cisse and Francesco Camarda are waiting in the wings.

Official Milan XI (3-4-2-1): Maignan; Gila, De Winter, Diawara; Musah; Rabiot, Modric, Moreira; Pulisic, Cisse; Ramos.

Bench: Torriani, Bouyer, Estupinan, Vladimirov, Terracciano, Bartesaghi, Comotto, Jashari, Hutchinson, Camarda.
