Massimiliano Allegri has named a squad of 20 players for Napoli’s upcoming Serie A match against Monza on Wednesday evening, welcoming Amir Rrahmani back to the pack but having to go without Benoit Badiashile and Leonardo Spinazzola.

A full round of midweek Serie A fixtures is taking place over the next three nights, beginning with Sassuolo vs. Lazio at 17.30 GMT on Tuesday and ending with Fiorentina vs. Atalanta at 19.45 GMT on Thursday. Napoli will take on Monza away from home at 19.45 GMT on Wednesday night.

Napoli are coming in off the back of an eventful 3-3 draw against Roma over the weekend, which saw head coach Allegri sent off in the final minutes after his explosive reaction to Leonardo Balerdi’s late equaliser being deemed legal without the need for the referee to check it on the monitor.

Allegri has been given a two-match suspension as a result of his actions, and though the club announced that they would appeal the decision on Monday, the coach himself confirmed during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday that they are dropping the appeal.

Napoli also confirmed on Monday that Rrahmani has returned to full training with the first-team group, but that summer signing Badiashile is facing around a month out with a rectus femoris injury and that Leonardo Spinazzola will miss the Monza game with a minor thigh issue.

It is a case of one in, two out, as Rrahmani returns to the matchday squad while Badiashile and Spinazzola drop out.
