AC Milan’s priority is to sign a centre-back in the winter window, and a new name has emerged on the list of targets.
According to the latest from Matteo Moretto (via RomaPress), Milan are eyeing a new central defender in view of the January mercato after Matteo Gabbia suffered an injury that will keep him out for months, which has made it important to bolster the depth.
The journalist adds that Roma’s Daniele Ghilardi has ended up on their list. The 23-year-old is a promising Italian who ‘fully fits the profile outlined by the management’, so he is a name to watch. Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio is also on the list, given he is a player Ruben Amorim knows well.
Moretto also broke the news on Sunday that Markus Krösche is expected to come in as the new Head of Football. So, it remains to be seen if the German has had any input in this, or whether he might have some targets of his own.

Ghilardi has not been one of the players that Gian Piero Gasperini has relied upon that much, given that he has racked up just 144 minutes of playing time in the first nine games, across Serie A and the Champions League.
Lorenzo Pellegrini (99 minutes) and Konstantinos Koulierakis (103 minutes) are the only two outfield players that have got less game time than the Italian. Whether the Giallorossi would put up much resistance remains to be seen, as well as if he is an alternative to Inacio.
