AC Milan are one of several clubs that are watching Palmeiras defender Agustin Giay, according to a report.

Matteo Moretto claimed that several major clubs are interested in signing Giay from Palmeiras ahead of the January transfer window. In the meantime, the right-back continues to put in top performances, even scoring a brace in their last match against Corinthians.

His contract expires in 2030, and his price tag has been set at around €20-25m in view of the winter. The 22-year-old has already received approaches in the past from Atlético Madrid, Milan and Napoli.

Moretto adds that Massimiliano Allegri is one of Giay’s biggest admirers, while the full-back’s reputation is also on the rise inside the Argentine national team ranks, having made six appearances for his country

Why Milan might be interested

Last week it was claimed that the back four seen in the build-up phase against Lecce is clearly something that has lit a spark in Amorim, so much so that he has been working on certain concepts during this break.

If this is something that the coach sticks with, the decision could be made to pursue a natural full-back to help the balance. Calciomercato.com mentioned four names being in the frame – including loanee Zachary Athekame – but Giay might well be a fifth.
