Moretto: ‘His right as a player’ – Bondo ready for shock return to Milan first-team training
Warren Bondo will be back in first team training with the rest of the AC Milan squad from today, according to Matteo Moretto.
Bondo was excluded from Ruben Amorim’s plans during the preseason, but failed to find a solution during the summer window. Thus, he was left in the strange position of being on the club’s books but not actually named in any of the squads, neither Serie A nor Europa League.
The Frenchman looked set to move to Turkey at one point, while Serie A clubs were linked too. Like with Fikayo Tomori, none of the talks that took place led to anything and thus that put both the club and the player in a difficult position.
The solution sought by Bondo was to ask to be reinstated in the squad. There was even talk of his representatives threatening legal action, given that he is contractually permitted to use the training facilities even if he has no chance of playing.
Now, Matteo Moretto has provided the following update: “Warren Bondo is returning to training with AC Milan’s first team starting today simply because it’s his right as a player, being registered with the Rossoneri, but he is out of all squad lists and not available to Amorim.
“In recent weeks, Milan has proposed a contract termination to him, but the parties have not reached an agreement; in January, a solution will be sought on the market.”
