Diego Moreira joked that Goncalo Ramos’ assist for Christian Pulisic might have been meant for him, while he admitted AC Milan’s need to find consistency.

Milan found themselves in a commanding position in the game against Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris after first-half goals from Alphadjo Cisse and Christian Pulisic, both of which came after a well-executed high press.

The second half had a bit less action but had controversial moments, such as when Marcandelli brought down Adrien Rabiot when he was clearly the last man. Ellertsson pulled one back for the home side late on with a strike from distance, but the Rossoneri hung on for a valuable win.

Moreira started on the right side and he spoke to DAZN after the full-time whistle to give his thoughts on the game, with MilanNews transcribing the comments from the Belgian.

Was Ramos’ pass actually meant for you?

“I think Gonçalo passed to me, but Pulisic scored and so I’m still very happy (smiles).”

A nice response after Ferencvaros…

“We’re training to improve this aspect. We can’t play well, then poorly, then well again. We need to find consistency. It takes time, but we’ll find it. Today, Milan showed character, and we showed we play like Milan do.”

What does the manager ask of you?

“He asks me to defend a lot because he knows I can do it and I can improve. I know I have to improve, but it’s part of my journey.”

Your idol CR7 is retiring from the national team…

“I think he’s done everything he could for Portugal. It’s his decision, and we have to respect it. I think the entire football world should be happy for him, and I wish him the best for the rest of his career.”

What is your assessment of these nine matches between the international breaks?

“The important thing is that we have to find this consistency, because it’s important, but it’s a process and we have to keep believing in it.”

What does the manager ask of you?

“I think the coach put me in this position because he knows I can run all the way up and down the flank, and yes, it’s part of my game. I run a lot and I think that helps the team, and I have to continue doing it because, yes, if I can help the team in this way, I will do it every time.”
