Moreira, Pulisic, De Winter and attacking play: Compilations of Milan’s stand-outs vs. Inter

There were a number of commendable performances for AC Milan as they swept aside Inter 3-1 to claim derby bragging rights.

All four goals came in the first half, with Christian Pulisic’s header and Adrien Rabiot’s finish from a corner putting Milan two goals up less than 10 minutes in. Alessandro Bastoni halved the deficit, before Diego Moreira’s outstanding free-kick restored the two-goal lead.

As our player ratings made clear, there were several individuals who deserved to be praised for the quality of the performances that they put in, which meant some high scores were dished out. CompMilano have put together some excellent highlights videos.

Starting with Christian Pulisic, who got an 8 from us: “It was a great header to open the scoring for Milan, celebrating his renewal in style. The positioning is what makes him so brilliant, not just on the goal but also how he links the midfield and attack together.

“Could he have been even more effective on the ball? Yes, but the importance of the movement shouldn’t be played down just because it wasn’t always fireworks.”

Diego Moreira (9.5 – MOTM) is next: “He’s rough around the edges sometimes, but with one fantastic goal and two very good assists in a derby, he deserves all the praise he can get. I expressed doubts about him playing on the right but tonight was his best game in that role. Really, really encouraging ahead of what’s to come.”

De Winter (8): He absolutely won the battle against Thuram this game and it’s not like it was an easy one either. The two had several 50-50 duels and he always came out on top. Aside from his Thuram battle, he was very good overall and deserves a high rating here.
