Monza 0-5 Milan Primavera: Zaramella shines in much-needed trashing
After a tough run in the league, Milan Primavera managed to build on their mid-week cup win with a strong performance against Monza this afternoon.
Excluding Wednesday’s win against Catanzaro in the Primavera Cup, Milan Primavera had lost four of their last five games heading into today’s clash. In short, a response was needed in the league as well and that is exactly what Giovanni Renna got.
There is still a long way to go, especially when you consider how much Monza have struggled so far, but it’s a crucial confidence boost to build on.
Match report
Milan Primavera opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Max Anastasio. The winger received the ball on the left flank and cut inside to shoot with his right foot. He managed to beat the goalkeeper with a nice strike, giving his side a perfect start.
It didn’t take long before the second goal arrived: four minutes later, Francesco Domnitei fired a shot on target and forced the goalkeeper to a save. However, he couldn’t control the rebound, which Mattia Zaramella pounced on for an easy goal.
Before the first half was up, Luca Nolli almost made it 3-0, hitting the post with an effort from close range. Either way, it was a great first half that put the Rossoneri in a very difficult position.
Sure enough, the second half was a lot of the same as Monza struggled to get themselves back into the game. Milan created some good chances almost immediately, but had to wait until the 65th minute for their next goal.
Zaramella picked out Riccardo Grassini in the box after winning the ball back high up the pitch, and the latter didn’t make any mistakes with the finish. Five minutes later, similarly to the first and second goals, Zaramella got his brace after picking up a good position inside the box.
It didn’t end there as Yanis Messaoudi made the most of a corner in the dying minutes, finding the back of the net with a header. 5-0, in other words, and a huge win for Milan Primavera to move to eight place at the time of writing.
