AC Milan returned from Austria this morning, following their 4-0 win against Salzburg, and there won’t be a training session at Milanello as a result.

After some criticism and doubts about the team’s progress, Milan certainly managed to boost their confidence with a comfortable win against Salzburg last night. Tactically speaking, Ruben Amorim got the decisions right and several players also impressed on the pitch.

As reported by MilanNews, Milan didn’t fly back from Austria last night as they stayed at a hotel overnight. The return to Malpensa Airport thus took place this morning and has affected the training schedule over the coming days.

Mini-ritiro on the cards

Normally, Milan have a post-gameday session at Milanello which allows those who didn’t play so much to work on the pitch. Those who played a lot, meanwhile, tend to be in the gym to recover from the day before.

However, since the return was delayed this time, Amorim has decided to give his players the day off. They will return to Milanello tomorrow for a morning session and then at 10 pm, they will need to return to the training ground for a mini-ritiro.

This means that their presence is mandatory from 10 pm at Milanello, where they will spend the night ahead of Milan-Atalanta on Sunday. This is likely to make the best of a tough situation, as one training session isn’t exactly a lot to prepare for a game.

With the players staying at Milanello beyond the morning session, more video material might be looked at to bridge the gap.
