The Milan derby will once again feature one of its most iconic elements: the fans’ choreographed displays in the stadium.

The 247th derby between AC Milan and Inter will bring changes on the pitch and in the stands. Halloween night promises a fright for one side, but it will also bring record numbers back to San Siro and a long-absent sight to the stands.

After a long absence, banners and choreographed displays will return to the Meazza.

Record numbers

Tonight's derby will be the most-watched since March 2019. The safety tarpaulins in the third tier at both ends of the stadium will come down for the occasion, putting more than 2,500 seats back on sale.

Installed in 2019 to safeguard the stability of those sections, the protective coverings can come down after the Provincial Supervisory Commission approved the seats going back on sale. More than 77,000 spectators are once again expected for the derby.

Banners and choreographed displays return

Many banners, at least those that are not banned, and the famous choreographed displays will return to the stands after a long absence. They have effectively been missing since the start of the judicial investigations into both curva sections and the numerous bans imposed following checks by Lega Serie A, the FIGC, the prefect and the police commissioner.

Three-tier choreography vs scarf display

As ever, the ultras groups are keeping their plans under wraps. The Curva Sud, together with the first and third blue tiers, will be the focus of the Milan fans' choreographed display.

Inter fans, the visitors this time, will occupy the Curva Nord, where an impressive display of Inter scarves is expected, according to reports so far.
