Mendes Working on Barcelona, Roma, and Juventus Deals
Jorge Mendes is making calls to try to set up the departure of one of his clients, Alejandro Balde, who’s not playing as much as he wishes at Barcelona, and has offered him to Roma in recent days. The Giallorossi were keen in the summer and didn’t reject the suggestion, Il Messaggero reports (via AllFootball).
They are missing a left-footed specialist, but their wing-backs have been solid so far. Emanuele Lulli has been an early revelation and recently extended his contract until 2031. The Spaniard has featured just three times this campaign.
Juventus are also tight with Mendes and tracked Balde in the past. However, Barcelona slapped a €40/50M price tag on him, and the Bianconeri didn’t proceed. His price tag could be significantly lower a few months later, but the 23-year-old is under contract until 2029, so the Catalans still have plenty of leverage.
The negotiation could be facilitated by inserting Andrea Cambiaso in the deal. He’s far from untouchable for the Bianconeri, but they still value him highly, at about €30M. They’d rather part ways with Juan Cabal, but they’d pull the trigger on the Italian’s sale for a worthy offer.
Our Take on Mendes, Balde, Roma, and Juventus
January often presents this kind of opportunity, but his price tag is out of reach for Italian sides, unless the parties get creative. The capital club can easily stay as is on the flanks. The move for them would be to part ways with Devyne Rensch and bring in a lefty. The Old Lady has struggled to find destinations Cambiaso might like after Manchester City approached him in the past, and the Blaugrana would offer an excellent escape route.
