Lazio Open Contract Talks With In-Form Winger
Lazio are reportedly negotiating a contract renewal with the entourage of Gustav Isaksen, whose current deal is only valid until June 2028.
Gustav Isaksen Enjoying a Purple Run
The Dane’s campaign began on a difficult note, as he missed the entire pre-season after undergoing groin surgery in the summer. But after lukewarm showings in the first few weeks of the season, the 24-year-old has been in brilliant form since returning from the international break, taking advantage of Matteo Cancellieri’s absence due to a knee injury.
Isaksen netted goals in the back-to-back wins over Monza and Juventus, but his best outing of the season arguably came on Tuesday in the 6-2 victory at the Mapei Stadium. The winger not only scored against Sassuolo, but also had a direct hand in two other goals. He also won a spot-kick that was squandered by Davide Frattesi.
Lazio & Isaksen Working on New Contract
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Lazio have recently opened a dialogue with Isaksen’s representatives regarding a new contract. The two parties have been discussing the new deadline and salary. The management plans to lock down the Danish international with a long-term contract, as they wouldn’t want to head into the summer with an important player running on an expiring contract.
The New Deadline
The source expects the new deadline to be June 2030. TMW also believes the negotiations could reach a positive conclusion sooner rather than later, so important updates could arrive in the coming weeks. The club is simultaneously working on extending Romano Floriani Mussolini’s contract, with the official announcement expexted in the coming days.
Isaksen’s Lazio Stats
Isaksen has been at Lazio since making the move from Midtjylland in the summer of 2023. He has made 130 appearances for the Aquile, scoring 17 goals and providing 12 assists.
