Lang lashes out at Conte: ‘This Napoli coach talks to me, which is new’
Noa Lang aimed another vicious sideswipe at former Napoli coach Antonio Conte, explaining what has changed under Max Allegri. ‘First of all, he talks to me…’
The Netherlands international was on target in this evening’s 3-0 Serie A victory over Frosinone at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
It was his first goal of the season, and a fresh start after last term he went out on loan to Galatasaray in January.
When speaking to the Italian media after the game, Lang did not shy away from aiming more broadsides at his old coach, having repeatedly criticised and insulted Conte in the press.
Lang still feuding with Conte
“Everybody knows I had a tough season with the other coach,” Lang told DAZN Italia.
“As I said before, I feel the confidence of this coach, I feel the belief in me, and I have to show in every minute of the game that I work hard for the team.
“I need to improve a lot and be more fit, but the beginning is there and I hope to continue like this.”
What has changed specifically from Conte to Allegri, who after all is also known for a fairly defensive approach to his tactics?
“First of all, he talks with me, which is perhaps something I missed last season,” smirked the winger.
“A coach who speaks with me, tells me what I can do better, tell me what I did good. He gives me a little more freedom on the pitch to work where I want, to find the spaces, so that’s all different.”
Lang did eventually make 27 competitive appearances for Napoli under Conte, providing one goal and two assists, but only nine of those were in the starting XI.
Conte walked away in the summer after two seasons, so when Allegri took over, Lang decided this was the opportunity for a fresh start.
